Tents4Haiti
Please join in this effort to help the people in Haiti. The idea is simple: purchase and deliver tents to people in need. My original goal was to obtain 50 tents and send them to the area near Jolivert or Port-de-Paix, but the new goal is to obtain 500 tents and, as soon as possible, get them to an area nearer to Port-a-Prince (specifically, the community of Charbonierre where Dr. Bob and Betty have taken on 600 families, approx. 3,000 people).
Thanks to the efforts of Jim Gonyea of Great Lakes Camping Supply, we have managed to already obtain 10 very large tents (12 person tents) at a deeply discounted price. Wal-Mart has also donated 8 tents, but we need many more and of different sizes. Tents are being evaluated based on availability (need to ship quickly), quality (each needs to have a waterproof floor and rain fly) and cost-per-person-sheltered. The key is to move quickly because the rainy season is almost here and many thousands remain without shelter.
So the request is simple — please help with this effort by donating today. Using the PayPal button below is the easiest way to donate. Time is of the essence. This is once-in-a-lifetime tragedy that requires a quick response.
Our progress can be followed on the Mission of Love homepage or on Twitter @Tents4Haiti (note, we’re not “@TentsForHaiti”)
Thanks and God Bless.
