April 15, 2010

MOL team members and Pastor George in attendance at morning meeting.

Devotions by: Dale Breedlove  Scripture: Col. 1:
Dale began devotions by holding up a T-shirt that read “People use duct tape to fix everything: God used nails,”He spoke about how we all need to be delivered from the darkness of sin and related the darkness of sin to when the recently rescued coal miners were being brought out of the mines into the light of day, how they were lifting their hands and praising God. He concluded with may we in everything we say and do, here in Haiti and at home, convey the light and show we’ve been redeemed to Christ and the blood.

Betty shared the good news about MOL’s Soldiers of Christ (musically talented Haitian evangelists), and how they have been going into the mountains preaching the gospel, sharing the love of Christ, feeding and clothing the poor, praying for them and seeing miracles take place.

Three miracles they shared are as follows:

One lady was near death when they found her. They prayed for her and she came out of her sick bed. Then they took her into their homes, gave her food and clothing and to MOL clinic for medical attention. Seven months later, the lady is well and living at home again.

Another young woman was brought to them. Her neck and body were twisted and contorted so badly that her head was held up with a big stick and others had to help her walk. They prayed for her and she was healed. Her healing lead to her accepting Christ as her Savior. However, because of her conversion to Christ, her family turned their backs on her and her 20 month-old daughter, kicking them out of their home with no food or clothing. Members of the Soldiers of Christ have assisting her with food and clothing.

The third miracle was a lady whose legs were permanently crossed and her body bent over to where she could not walk. They prayed for her and her legs uncrossed. Now, each time they visit her and pray for her, she continues to get better. They are expecting her to start walking soon.

Because of their hearts for the very poor mountain people, the Soldiers of Christ have a desire to build a church up in the high mountains. Not only because many have to walk 2 ½ hours or more to attend the outdoor meetings, but to also to have a place that will serve as a temporary “safe house” for the converts who are often left homeless, without food or clothing.

Background of Soldiers of Christ:
A couple of years ago, Doc and Betty were talking with some of the Haitian believers of the Jolivert area about outreaching into the remote mountain areas of Haiti. As a result, Betty shared the Scripture that says “Go ye therefore into all the world,” and explained that the command “Go ye” was intented for everyone. She told the Haitians, “Don’t wait for white people to go hike up the mountains. It won’t happen. YOU must go.”

Now, 17 young men, all clad in cream colored suits, (provided by Missions of Love evangelistic funds) take their musical instruments, Bibles and the love of Christ and spread the Good News into the highest of the mountains where the poorest of the Haitians dwell. However, they don’t stop with just the spiritual aid, they, out of their own pockets, help to feed, clothe and tend to the physical needs too.

“We are so happy these young men are working hard and doing this: Taking care of the sick and giving shelter,” Betty concluded. “A lot of change is coming through the hands of the Haitians.”

Another outreach programs discussed was the newly built mountain church of Mouratier, which now has grown to include the Safe Water Program, school lunch program, and the hopes of starting Nancy’s Creole literacy program soon.

Christophe and Miss Evelyn have done follow up by going back into the mountain to teach the Safe Water Program, hygiene and health education.

Will have a Business meeting toward end of trip to discuss the coming months’ involvement with Port Au Prince.

Minister of Health will be at clinic Thursday.

Discussed the success of Nancy’s Creole literacy program and Haitian audio Bible program.

Discussed Haitain government’s intent to stretch education into satellite teaching for all students of Haiti to learn agriculture and other educational benefits.

Ended with prayer lead by Joe Greene.
